STAR WALKED MONADNOCK BACK IN TIME

It was a tough weekend for racing as Mother Nature had her ups and downs.  From southern New England to the boarder line of New Hampshire was torrential rains and flash flooding, but this did not stop the STAR members.  The southern STAR members had a tough ride to the next event which was at Monadnock Speedway on August 2nd.  Once we hit the board line of New Hampshire we knew there was going to be racing that night.  The sun was out and it was "Race Time".

STAR started their day with warm ups and the evening would bring the tour 2 heats and 2 features.

It was the Sportsmen to hit the asphalt first for their heat race.  Alan Zemla from Me in his #43 coupe took down the first checkered for the tour that evening by taking down the Sportsmen heat.   Skip Stearns from NH in his 7X  coupe took a very close second, with Rick MacDowell from Ma in his #76 Camero topping off the pack with a third.  The Modifieds were ready to take on their heat race, and it was a tight one as Scott Poirier from Ct in his #73 Pinto took down the second checkered for the tour and claimed the victory for the Modified heat.  Brian Robie from NH came in with a very close second and finishing off the pack for a close third was Jamie Ferland from NH in his #194 Pinto.

At feature time the Sportsmen were up first where once again the "Berkshire Bandits" got the job done.  The "Bandits" ruled the feature by Bandit Joe Keefner from Ma in his #99 Gremlin took down the victory for the Sportsmen feature.  And who was second ? Bandit Rick MacDowell from Ma in his #76 Camero.  Bob Harless from NY in his #8 sedan finished off the pack with a third.  The top three were brought trackside for and out of car interview and presented with trophies.

The Modifieds were ready to hit the track for their feature race.  It was a wheel to wheel action with these guys, so close that I knew it was going to be a photo finish.  When the checkered came down it was on the #46 of James Allen from Ma to take down the Modified feature.  James Ferland from NH in his #194 and Brian Robie from NH in his #7 Pinto, wheel to wheel and you had to be at the starter's box to see who took second.  It was Ferland by inches to take the second spot and finishing off he pack was Robie with a third.  The top three were brought trackside for and out of car interview and presented with trophies.

STAR would like to thank Monadnock Speedway and their entire staff for all their hospitality and a great night of racing.
