With snow on the ground and more coming,
it did not stop the STAR members from appearing at the 55th
Annual Frank Maratta Custom Auto Show/Race A Rama on March 1st
and 2nd in
West Springfield, Ma. One by one the Star cars rolled in shinny and
spotless, chromed out, newly painted and ready to show the fans some of
the most beautiful vintage race cars from New England.
On hand was Scott and Judy Poirier from
CT with their #73 blue Pinto, Ed and Deanna Mulligan from RI with their
#61 orange Pinto, Charlie Lima from Ma with his 2X red coupe, Rich
Mosher from Ct with his #17 cream coupe and Matthew Barboza from Ma with
his 2XJr red Mini Cup car. The
members worked as a team to roll out the carpets and put down a spring
display to give the fans and cars the “Star’s Touch”.
The display was one of the most popular in the show.
At some points you could not even see the cars as the crowd
surround them.
With the support and donations of free
passes to the local tracks, Star was able to hold raffles all day
Saturday and Sunday giving out free passes to the local short tracks.
Star would like to thank Twin State Speedway, Seekonk Speedway,
Monadnock Speedway, Lee USA Speedway and Don’s Auto for tickets to
Stafford Springs. The
raffles were a total success.
Meanwhile in the booth the playing began
with the Star members. How
many times have you gone to a car show and see the sign “look but do
not touch” well this was
not the incident in the Star’s booth, as hundreds of fans both
children and adults got to
sit in the stock cars and have their pictures taken.
The fans just came coming all weekend. It was nice to see
the Star car owners passing out pictures of their cars for the fans to
remember.
It was also great to see the support of
so many Star members stopping by to spend some time and say hello.
Members from all over New England where there.
The weekend was a total success as many schedules,
rules and regulations were passed out.
Also many new and renew members signed up.
At the end of the long 3 day weekend, it
all paid off! Because of the
team work from the Star members, Star took down the “Best
Race Car Display Award” .
THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAR MEMBERS WHO
MADE THIS POSSIBLE!!!!!
