TWIN STATE SPEEDWAY

On August 15th Senior Tour Auto Racers returned to Twin State Speedway in Claremont, NH.  This was the first stop for the double-header weekend for the Star Tour.  Star started their day with warm ups from 2:00 till 5:00.  After warms up were over Star had a barbeque for the members who attended.  Then it was time for racing.  Warm and sunny there was no chance of rain this weekend.  Star rolled out on the track for their heat races.  Bob Bateman from RI in his #17 Pinto gave it all he had.   Lap after lap the pack trying to pass Bateman but he was not about to give this up!!  He quoted “ I gave it all she had.” The checkered flag came down on Bateman for his first heat victory win with Star. In the sportsmen division Gary Moore from NH in the 7X coupe battled with Rick MacDowell from Ma in his #76 Pinto.  Moore pushing on the last lap to take his first victory heat win also.  Congratulations go out to Bateman and Moore on their first heat victories. 

In the Modified feature race it was James Allen from Ma in his #46 Monte Carlo taking the victory for the Star Modifieds that evening.  Allen having his problems all day and with the help of the Star drivers got to drive his #46 to Victory Lane.  Dewitt Davis from NH in his #211 sedan and Danny Ferland from NH in his #21 Pinto battled lap after lap to see who would finish second.  Davis came down the front straight only by inches to take second place from Ferland.  Ferland topped the pack off with a third. In the Sportsmen feature race it was Joe Keefner from Ma in his #99 Gremlin taking the win for the Sportsmen feature race.  Now it was time for Rick MacDowell to battled with the heat winner Gary Moore and this time MacDowell dominated second place giving Moore to finish off third for the Sportsmen division.  Star would like to thank Twin State Speedway for a great evening of racing and all their hospitality.
