THE STARS AND CARS OF YESTERYEAR

Driven by Passion---Fueled by Fun  - Welcome to the High Banks of Monadnock Speedway”.  On June 4th Monadnock Speedway, Winchester, NH was the scene for the Senior Tour Auto Racers. This would be the first of two visits for the STAR Tour for the 2016 season at Monadnock Speedway. It was hot and it was steaming but these racers did not care!  One by one Star rolled into the pit area of Monadnock Speedway with cars from all over New England.  Star started their day with warm ups, and the evening would bring the tour 2 heats and 2 features.

First to hit the asphalt for their heat race was the Sportsmen division.  It was Skip Stearns who dominated the field and took down the heat win and the first checkered for the tour for the evening.  The Modifieds were lined up and ready to hit the asphalt next.  The pack ran tight lap after lap until hometown boy Bob Donahue made his move to take over the lead and the second checkered flag for the tour for the evening.

At feature time it was the Sportsmen to hit the track first for their feature race.  Bob Harless from NY piloting his #8 yellow sedan to the finish line to take down the third checked for the tour.  Rick MacDowell from Ma in his #76 Camero captured second with Alan Zelma from Me in his #43 coupe to round out the pack with a third. Sedan, Camero, and Coupe would take the victories that evening.  All three were brought track side for an out of car interview and awarded with trophies.

The Modifieds were lined up and ready to do some good old fashion racing!  The pack ran tight with only inches away from each other.  When the last flag was waved it was on Danny Ferland from NH in his #194 Pinto to take the last flag for the evening. Gregg Massini from Ma in his #19 Vega took a very close second and to round out the pack with a third was James Allen from Ma in his #44 Mustang.  Pinto, Vega and Mustang would take the victories that evening.   All three were brought track side for an out of car interview and awarded with trophies.

What a weekend!  Senior Tour would like to thank Monadnock Speedway and their entire staff for all their hospitality and a great night of racing!
