Monadnock Speedway was the first stop for the Senior Tour Auto Racers double header weekend on 8/6/16.  Rain was in the forecast but members took a chance and it was worth it!  NO RAIN, SUNSHINE all day and it was off to racing!

STAR started their day with warm ups and then the evening would bring the tour 2 heats and 2 features.

The Sportsmen hit the track first for their heat race.  Rookie Art Merchant from Ma in the #64 coupe ruled the pack and took down the first checkered for the evening.

The Modifieds were staged and ready for their heat race.  Neck to neck Scott Poirier from Ct in the #73 Pinto and Gregg Massini from Ma in the #19 Vega battled for the win.  It was a photo finish with Massini taking the win by inches and picking up the second checkered for the tour.

At feature time it was the Sportsmen to take the track first.  Lap after lap the positions changed, but when the checkered dropped it was on Rick MacDowell from Ma in his #76 Camaro to take the victory.  Alan Zemla from Me in the #43 coupe took a second and rounding out the pack with a third was Robert Harless from NY in the #8 sedan.  MacDowell made his victory lap and was brought trackside for an out of car interview and awarded with a trophy.

Then it was time for the Modifieds to hit the asphalt for their feature.  The pack drove a tight race lap after lap until Danny Ferland from NH in the #194 Pinto made his move to the outside and to the checkered for the Modified division.  James Allen from Ma in the #44 Mustang picked up a second and rounding out the pack with a third was Tom Beaugaurd from Ct in the #51 Pinto.  Ferland took is victory lap and was brought track side for an out of car interview and awarded with a trophy.

Star would like to thank Monadnock Speedway and their entire staff for all their hospitality and for a great night of racing!
